Thank you!

To everyone who stopped by to view pictures and leave such wonderful comments. And to everyone who just stopped by to look.

Last week was so exhausting. And this week looks to be even moreso, since we're home now and doing this without nurses!

We had quite an experience that I will post about someday soon. Just know it started at 4pm on Monday 8/20, he was born at 8:05am Wednesday 8/22, and we came home Saturday morning 8/25.

Right now I'll say we had some WONDERFUL nurses, and some nurses who made us say, very shortly into our stay, that we will never deliver at that hospital again!

But none of that matters. What matters is we have Alexander at home with us after such a long wait!

It's a boy!

Dad again.....

We welcome Alexander William to our family on Aug 22nd at 8:05 am. He was 8 lbs. 6 oz and 21 inches. Mom, Dad and baby are all doing fine. The whole process took longer than expected but it all worked out in the end.

Kari will update on the long week that was when we return, but I wanted to get an update out as soon as I could.

Baby Update - Part 2

Another quick update:

It was a long night and not much happened. A little bit of sleep and a whole lot of waiting. We were moved to a new room around 7 this morning and now on Pitocin. Time to wait yet again. Hopefully next update a picture of the new member of the family.

BabyUpdate

It's the Husband here "pinch hitting" for a quick baby update.

It's 9:45 and so far there isn't much to report. We checked in at 4,and was put on monitors only being able to get off of them to go potty. The process started around 5 and I have been "chained" to the bed until about a half hour ago. I have felt plenty of contractions, but nothiung changed yet (Still about 1 cm) I'm now off monitors for a short time until they give me another dose. Then in another 4 hours from now I may know more. We "like" the contractions, we just hope that ther are a bit more productive soon!

Oh, the free snack kitchen rocks!!

Update later if possible!

It's Raining It's POURING

It has been raining GOOD for over an hour now. Well it's been raining all day, but it's been crazy for the last hour. So on my television it says "searching for signal on: satellite in 2. See messages & settings/troubleshooting for info".

That's the beauty of satellite television. (it WAS on satellite 1 and 2, but it looks like satellite 1 is good now).

Thankfully the rain held off long enough for the Packers to KICK BUTT tonight, 48-13.

(FYI, satellite 1 and 2 are out again now.)

I think I'm going to go back to watching Failure to Launch on DVD. I've seen it before, but I can watch (almost) any Matthew McConaughey movie more than once. Plus, who knew Bradley Cooper was so dang cute?

Sure, it's almost 1:20am. I could probably sleep if I really tried. But, I'm not that into trying. If I put the movie back on, it'll come to me.

8/20/07

Sounds like a good day for a birthday, right?

I found out today that I will be induced on Monday if I don't go before then. Which, by the looks of things, I won't. So, Monday it is.

The doctor left the office with me in tears. She had said she was going to look at the schedule and I'd be going in on Monday for another checkup. I'd be 41 weeks 2 days by then. (Hello! Pregnancy is only supposed to be 40 weeks!!!!)

When she came back, she said "We'll schedule you for an induction on Monday."

She decided to induce then because of scheduling conflicts and such. I don't really care why...I just know there is an end in sight.

And I can start answering the phone again!

Officially Late

Sorry folks, nothing yet.

I was due on Saturday.

This baby is testing my virtually nonexistent patience.

I must say, though, that I was born almost 2 weeks late.

In all possible cases, I show up to things EARLY. Always have. Even on-time is "late" for me.

Maybe my kid will follow my lead in that sense.

I'll keep you posted.

By the way, if you call and I don't answer, don't take it personally. It gets really hard to be reminded that this baby hasn't come yet!

Aaahhh...Benadryl!

Yesterday I had my 39 week doctors appointment. I went in with the mindset that I was going to force my way into being induced SOON.

It did not happen. I got pretty upset, but couldn't bring myself to actually cry.

I did tell her that I can't sleep, so she told me to take benadryl.

I did, and you know what?

Instead of being up crying this morning at 3:30am (like I was the previous morning) I woke up and thought about blogging. Because I hadn't already been up 4 times by then. I did wake up a few times throughout the night, but I was able to go back to sleep without actually getting out of bed. And that was nice.

It helped me sleep, and I think that will help me get through the rest of my time. However freakin' long that will be! (I'm due Saturday, and I believe this baby has no intention of coming any earlier than that!)

Oh. Em. Gee.

Grey's Anatomy is expected to come back to life on September 27! I am SO excited. If I have a girl, she'll be a Grey's fan from the start. If I have a boy, he'll be spending Thursday evenings with his dad.

I'll keep you posted on that. But seriously, I can't wait for Grey's to come back. For as long as I've been pregnant (a friend told me today it feels like it's been 2 years) another month plus is not too much longer to wait for a show. I'll be busy up until then anyway!

I wish

TC left a comment in my last blog about how no update might mean there's a baby taking up my time.

I wish.

It's boring around here...not much to post about. Except I think my husband is more anxious/nervous than I am. He'll probably get mad at me for telling this, but I think it's so cute.

I always go to bed before him...by a few hours at least. And there have been a few times where, if I get up and start walking around, (he's downstairs, i'm up) he bounces up the steps to check on me. And if I get up after he comes to bed and am up for a "long" time, he wonders. But I think he's getting used to me getting up. It's not always to go to the bathroom, but because constantly laying on my left side starts to hurt. So if I'm up too "long", it's because anything else is more comfortable than that!

It's as if he thinks that, if something was up, I wouldn't tell him!

He's funny that way! I think he gets it from his mom! :o)

"9" days to go

Today was ALMOST as annoying as my appointment last week. The nurse set me up on the monitors (one for baby's heartbeat, one for any contractions i might have)and said "i'll leave you here for about 10 minutes and send in Nurse A." ok. 10 minutes go by, and i'm pretty sure it was way longer than 10 minutes. they don't have clocks in the doctor's office. anyway, Nurse A comes in and says "looks good, I'll leave you here another 10 minutes." meanwhile, the monitor is picking up the heartbeat, but the baby is moving a lot. and everytime s/he does, the monitor loses track for a quick time. Nurse A comes back and says "I'll take this off, but let me get Nurse B to make sure." Ok...Nurse B comes in and says "It looks ok, but since you're seeing Dr H in a few minutes anyway, we'll send him in and let him look at it." GOD! I've been laying there for over an hour by now, my husband was out in the waiting room not knowing what was going on (because I couldn't get up to check my phone when he called)and I'm SO irritated. Dr H comes in and says "Yup, looks good. Lets get these off." Thanks, Dr. H. Now if you would have just said "Let's get you going" instead of "I wouldn't suggest you requesting to be induced". Because you know what, Dr. H? You're a man, and have NO idea how I feel right now. Next week I have an appointment w/Dr. O, and she's a woman. Hopefully she has more sympathy for me.
