What will you do with your rebate?

Subject: Stimulus Payment

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China . If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it will go to India . If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras , and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan . If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes, man whores, & beer, since these are the only products still produced in the US .

Thank you for your help.

I'm learning to knit...again!

I didn't get very far on my knitting, but damn, the Tastefully Simple Giddyup Guacamole is GOOD!

That's FATE!

I get a text tonight (about 12:45am) that says "If you're awake, call me." I was awake, Dave had just come to bed. I make the phone call as I'm sitting in my livingroom, looking out the window searching for Sami. And I see a cat crossing the street towards our driveway. My first instinct, of course, was to open the door...and the cat ran. Dave heard me yell "Sami!" and he quickly got dressed to come outside. He took the flashlight and went in the direction that cat had gone. He came back empty-handed. I was still on the phone, and could see him starting to creep through the neighbor's lawn across the street. I knew it. He had her. And I couldn't believe it!

Sami is home, safe and dry (after all that rain, even!), and I wouldn't have known if I hadn't gotten that text and actually called her back! Normally my phone is NOT in my room. I don't even think I would have heard it on a regular night!

Thanks for the text, and to my neighbors for unknowingly keeping my baby safe! Their garage door was open last night, and I have a feeling that's where she might have stayed!

Still waiting

I was feeding Zander this morning when I realized the screen was missing from our open window. I immediately shut the window, first thinking of bugs.

And then it hit me.

I heard something this morning, but I figured it was just the cats getting into something. I was wrong. It was one of the cats getting OUT of something.

Sami is missing. She must have been playing around in the window and fell out when the screen popped out.

I'm sad, but mostly for Blu. She's been moping around all day. She knows her friend isn't here.

We have phone calls into the Humane Society and the Police Department, and if she doesn't show up on her own, we'll be walking the neighborhood again tomorrow I'm sure.

They say cats have an instinct to come home. So we have boxes with clothes in them (she loves boxes, and the smell of home is supposed to help) on the front porch (along with some food) and the back deck. Hopefully it helps.
