Holy Crash, Batman!

so, we had quite a full day. the badgers won, the party was a surprise, and we thought we were in for the night. a couple games of yahtzee! and the phone rang. oh, it's scott. surprise surprise, he wants to go out for a beer. it's 10:50. After 10 minutes of negotiating, he won and we met him at the bowling alley. played some darts (scott isn't very good) and just chatted. it was nice, because i hadn't seen him in a while.
so, we're standing outside saying goodbye. it was probably 12:30. still fairly early, but we're getting old. we hear this odd noise...its a car careening down the road, around the curve, spinning into the grass up on the curb, and there it sat. it was probably going about 70 in a 35, around a curve. so, i'm immediately on the phone w/911, not knowing if anyone is hurt. i start towards where it happened, and it's about 5 young guys and they're now pushing the car into the Menards parking lot. i'm on with the dispatcher and she's asking me what kind of car and what the license plate is. well, i wasn't so sure they'd let me get close enough to find out. i knew i should back away when i heard "DON'T CALL ANYONE". of course, i had already been on w/911 for about 5 minutes. some of the guys took off (walking, not running) and some stayed behind. it took quite a while for the cops to get there, and when they did, the other 2 took off running. the cops went to look for the kids (mid 20's probably. that's young to me) and another car pulled up, full of kids. i heard "what do we do now?" to me, that meant "we're here to pick up the guys that crashed and they're gone" so i told juan the bartender to get the getaway car's license plate. she was nice enough to turn off her headlights so he could see it better. we weren't on the phone with 911 anymore, so we kept the information for later use. we stuck around for a few more minutes, and decided that if they wanted to talk to me, they would call me. of course we had to drive past the divots from when they went up on the curb (because I had seen them, as i'd gone across the street....dave had stayed back in the parking lot, knowing i could handle myself. he was probably just trying to keep scott out of trouble.) as we passed menards in the direction the kids had gone, we noticed a cop and possibly the getaway car down an alley behind menards. so, here we are. it's 1:40am, and as much as i'd like to be a "hero" with the information, i hope they wait until tomorrow to call.

if the kids were drunk, or they stole the car, i bet they can go to jail. it was a BRAND NEW BMW with the dealer tags still on it. someone said it was just bought the day before. hopefully for them it was bought. by them.
