must love doctors

why do we make doctors' appointments? and give them all of our information over the phone? so we can get there at our appointed time (or, just to be silly, a little early) and give them the information again. it's at THAT point where they have questions and have to call to make sure you're covered. that usually takes about 10 minutes. good thing you got there early, i guess. it's at THAT point where they finally tell the doctor you're waiting. So, you've already been there 10 minutes, and NOW you have to wait the normal 10-15 minutes for the doctor. ugh. couldn't we just show up at a random time and have the same treatment??? then of course the doctor doesn't tell you anything you didn't already know, and puts your maiden name on your prescription. so you get to you car, realize it's the wrong name, and cross it off. You then realize that filling a prescription with the last name crossed off and re-written the correct way is not a good idea.

do you ever wonder, while you're in the waiting room (or anywhere in public, for that matter) who people are and what their stories might be? like the guy in the waiting room today w/a 2 year old girl having an appointment. (the kid's appointment). he had no ring on. is he the dad, and he's divorced? never married? or is he the uncle? or something else. it crossed my mind today, while waiting for the doc, that there are just so many possibilities. it was fun to make something up.

we went to see "Must Love Dogs" at the dollar movie tonight. for a dollar, it was good! it was, while watching the movie (during a slow point), that i realized i'm SO glad i'm not a critic. of any kind. food, movies, books, etc. I enjoy these things, and don't want to be so harsh. i enjoy a good, predictable, sappy movie. or a cheesy horror flick. i don't care that "the people always have these great houses with jobs that wouldn't near pay the rent". it's not that part of the movie that matters to me. i like to laugh and/or cry and be scared. i prefer movies i don't have to think about. movies are an escape. maybe it's just me......

i think being a critic would almost take the fun out of watching movies. there's a huge trivia contest in WI every year...i know people who take tape recorders to the movies to make sure they get EVERY detail (license plate numbers and such). doesn't sound like fun to me. i tried it with television for a couple episodes, and ended up missing most of the show because i was too busy writing down names of coffee shops.
