Another song...

I don't listen to my old station much anymore...but when I do, I often hear a new song. This one was on while I was sitting in the car with my 6yo niece last night, waiting for the rain to stop so we could watch her sister's soccer game. It caught me instantly, and I can't wait to hear the whole thing.

Find Out Who Your Friends Are by Tracy Lawrence (With Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw)

Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Get yourself in a bind
lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor
need a couch
need a bus fare
This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
This is where the truth don't lie
You find out who you're friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who you're friends are
Everybody wants to slap your back
wants to shake your hand
when you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way
then you slide back down
look up and see who's around then
This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off
When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there

You find out who you're friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who you're friends are

Pictures!

We have painted the room, and yesterday my friend Mike came over to install the floors. I am so excited! The room looks so much better. Now, if my husband would only start putting the crib and changing table together.

(FYI, when we bought the house, the sellers had a young boy and girl. They shared this bedroom. 2 walls were BRIGHT pink, 2 light blue. we changed them to all light blue, and have since painted again...since we don't know what we're having. the room also used to have some nasty carpet.)

Time is running out (I have just over 10 weeks left) and my temper is running short. I'm crying (or at least choking up) about everything. It's more painful/difficult to move every day.
But it's all gonna be worth it.
That's what they say, anyway!

Why?

I'm watching Cops. This woman got "pulled over" on her bike and they found a bunch of drugs in her backpack. she said she didn't know how it got there. kept claiming innocence.

the cop takes her to an interview/interrogation room and asks her. she finally admits to it, and says she lied because it's too hard to admit to this problem. she starts to cry.

why the HELL am I getting choked up for this woman?

Because I'm pregnant, and that's what we do.

this is fun. seriously.

I get into work at 7am (well, a little after that, since I can't have access to the building until 7) and the 2 people I work directly with come in at 8. I did some work before they got in, and as soon as the first one got here, I said "I have worked on some of these, just waiting for you to look at them and let me know how to proceed."

it's 9:54 people. and i still haven't heard from her that she has time to work with me. (initially she said she just had one thing to wrap up and she'd be good to go).

i know it's stupid, but i don't feel like repeating myself and telling her i need help.

*edit: i did it. i bit the bullet and asked again. and no one said "what have you been doing for the past 2+ hours?"

i wish it were july 13 (my last planned day at work).

oh i know what i can do. look up 3WW on Bone's blog (since TC probably doesn't have it posted yet) and work on that!!!

I know you're dying to know

Madeline Ruth.

Finally, a freakin' name for the poor girl!

Good mother vs. Bad mother

I found this link on a message board I frequent. It really is for all current moms, moms-to-be, and every single one of us that has ever put a mom down for doing something we didn't think was right.

And I think that includes every woman (and some men) that I have ever known.

Article

She Has A Name!

The baby I spoke of yesterday has a name.

I just don't know what it is.

My husband says "T told me the baby's name. It was going to be Reagan or something else. It's not Reagan. I can't remember the other name."

I told him he needs to start writing things down. I need to know what this baby is going to be called. Not what it MIGHT have been called.

Men.

mostly about babies

Some friends of my husband (they're my friends now too, but were his friends first) had their baby last night, a girl weighing in at just over 8#. He started giving me all the stats, and I said "I don't care, what's her name?" (because I want to make sure it's not one we're thinking of...) and he said "She doesn't have one yet."

I would understand if this baby had been born 4 weeks early or something, but she was 8 days LATE. What have you been doing, if not picking a name? I've been thinking names since before we even got married!!!

(Dear T {baby's dad}: I'm sorry. But seriously. Why don't you have a name picked out yet?)

According to the new dad, she's a screamer. My husband said "It's because she found out you're her dad!" How nice.

Our nursery floor is getting installed next Monday (memorial day). Wood laminate. We're so excited!!!! A friend of mine is doing it for free (we just pay for the material), which makes it even better! then we can finally put up the crib!

Tomorrow is our last monthly appointment, and then they start coming every 2 weeks. and then every week. that will be good...at least for me. hardly time to get worked up over nothing in between appointments! 3 weeks from this Thursday we start our parenting classes. Eee gads! There are so many things I hope we learn!

I read the baby his/her first book yesterday, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It's a cute book...I can't say I've read it before. I have another book with nursery rhyme type things in it that I will probably start reading from soon. It's a far cry from the book I'm reading now!

Work is slow.

(I had to put that in so not everything was about babies!)

Famous In A Small Town

I'm not from a small town, and I will probably never know how this feels (but I know people who do!) Unless I move back to the town my husband is from, and in that case, it won't quite be the same. His family practically owns it. And we're practically hermits, so no one would know what we're doing anyway! Oh, and the town isn't big enough! I really wanted to post these for TC because she IS from a small town. Regardless, I love the song!

Famous In A Small Town by Miranda Lambert

They say life is so much sweeter
Through the telephoto lens of fame
Around here you get just as much attention
Cheerin' at the high school football game
I dreamed of going to Nashville
Put my money down and placed my bet
But I just got the first buck of the season
I made the front page of the Turnertown Gazette
Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows us just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town
Tyler and Casey broke up
It ended pretty quietly
We heard he was caught red-handed with her mama
That's just what they let us all believe
Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows us just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town
Baby who needs their faces in a magazine
Me and you we've been stars of the town since we were 17
Let's go on down to the quick stop
Wear your yellow shades
And I'll put on my tight jeans
And we'll just spend the weekend burnin' rubber
And we'll let em point and stare distantly
Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows us just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town

mental health days=best days ever

i didn't go to work today. i just couldn't. i don't enjoy my job. i'm tired a lot (apparently it's normal in the 3rd trimester which starts on saturday). i get frustrated at work and spend a lot of time trying not to cry. that's not good for anyone!

so, today I called in "not feeling so hot". ie: i'm taking a day off and i'm not even sick. i just want to sleep until i feel like waking up, and spend the day doing whatever i want! which is what i did today.

tonight, DC and I watched Grey's Anatomy "together". Ok, she's in DC and I'm not...so we chatted. And that was fun. Check out her blog for a recap. Too bad we waited til the freakin' season finale to chat during the show!

It was a great day. I don't know how I'll get through work tomorrow after having today off!

I haven't mentioned work in a while....

It is still quite boring. I really spend a lot of my day on the internet. And I don't care. SOMEONE must not realize I don't have much to do. Oh well.

Anyway, yesterday I was asked about an item, and I said "I'm working on it. Waiting to hear back." That seemed to satisfy...temporarily.

Today, it was "Why is this item flagged?" and I said "It's the one I'm waiting to hear about." (yes, same as yesterday). "Well maybe we could do this." and I said "already tried that, nothing works." I was then asked "Who did you email?" and I replied "S, who forwarded it to B." I got the OK sign and "That's exactly what you should have done."

Yes, I know this. Because I asked what I should do with it yesterday. So please, don't ask me tomorrow why that item is flagged. I don't think I can go through it again.

Maybe it's just me...

...but this is what you would call fate!!

an email conversation with a co-worker went like this:

me:How come, on the day I forget my lunch, the cafeteria is serving crap?
her: YEAH, THAT'S JUST THE WAY LIFE GOES. MURPHY'S LAW OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
me: Murphy’s a bitch! I guess I have to go somewhere else!
her: YES, MURPHY IS. AT LEAST PANERA IS CLOSE
me: My first thought was arby’s and you know what? It’s on Murphy Drive.

Seriously folks...who could pass that up?

I'm goin' to Arby's today.

Could this be the end of an era?

I flipped on ESPN today to see the results of the Bulls/Pistons game, and saw something scroll across the bottom that I could not believe.

THIS story could mean the end is coming. I would think, if Favre was so unhappy with the draft results, he won't stick around after this year. It's been hard for him to decide in the last couple years...I think this might have been a deal breaker.

Enough of that...this was my first (while unofficial) Mother's Day. I got season 2 of 90210. Couldn't be better! Our parents came over for lunch (we grilled out) and it was a nice day. Although halfway through the meal I realized I forgot the asparagus and corn on the cob. Oh well. Pregnancy brain at work!!!

Now it's time for some Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I won't be able to handle the emotion of this show much longer, so I watch while I can!!

Hope you had a great Mother's Day!

I put my yogurt in the fridge

If there's one thing about pregnancy that is annoying on a daily basis, it's EVERYTHING. I have no brain. A very good friend of mine...her birthday is the 28th. I haven't sent her a card. Oh, the 28th of APRIL. I just put pen to paper today to write out a card. When do you think I'll get it to the mailbox?

Everything is irritating. Moreso than normal. The fact that they clean out the fridge here EVERY friday, regardless. I lost a tub of country crock. so my bagel this morning was plain. and most of it is in the garbage.

People drive SO slow during rush hour. doesn't rush mean fast? at LEAST go the required 5-over, dumbass.

And the "little" things. This girl's laugh. This other girl...the way she answers the phone. And the way she sounds like a fog horn on a ship coming in at night when she blows her nose.

Good thing the work week is only 5 days.

They call it Three Word Wednesday

Usually these things are done on Wednesday. three word thursday sounds good enough to me. Go to TC's blog for a bit more info. To put it simply, we're given three words and are asked to create a story. Today's words are: Packed, Cozy, and Anticipation.

Here we go...

It was a chilly October day. She'd had it planned months in advance. The anticipation was killing her. But it would be worth it. All the driving. The unbelivable cost of it all. It was his birthday, though, and unbeknownst to them, the last they would spend together as a family of 2.

It started out rough. The map she'd found online was wrong. It should have been a simple drive..she'd done it many times before. After realizing the map was wrong, they found their way to a cozy town a couple hours northeast of Madison. They stopped at a restaurant very similar to one of his favorites. Dinner was great, and from there they drove to the hotel included in this package deal. She'd finally explained to him what was going on, and he was as excited as she'd hoped he'd be.

They went to the store, needing a marker, a piece of poster board and some stencil letters.

Early the next morning they boarded the bus. It was packed, which put her mind at ease. She wasn't the only one who thought it was all worth it. Some had travelled much farther-Indianapolis and Nashville, for example.

They spent all day in the sun. It had started out cold, but the afternoon was beautiful and there they were, the end of October, outside, in t-shirts. With thousands of other die-hards.

The drive back to the hotel was long...the driver got lost, and the guy from Indianapolis was quite a talker! Poor guy from Nashville was told he had to be at work at bright and early the next morning. He wouldn't get out of town until 5:30 or later, and it would be at least an 11 hour drive for him. But even then, it was all worth it. Because that afternoon, out in the sun, the announcer had told them some great news.

Green Bay Packers, 31
Arizona Cardinals, 14

(by the way...completely true story, if you couldn't tell! when i saw the words on TC's blog, it was the very first thing that came to my mind!)

Who knew?!

Panera Bread (oh YUM!) is very close to my work, and I didn't even know. Needless to say, when I met Amy for lunch today, I was way early. That's ok though...I got my soup and sandwich and read People until she got there. (Rachael Ray is on the cover, by the way). It's always fun meeting blog friends...it's as if I really do know them before we even meet. It was a good lunch...hopefully we'll go again soon! (not that I need to go to Panera every day...but I could....Mediterranean veggie sandwich and a cup of french onion soup, please!)

Went to another (useless) training at work today. That makes 3 of them now. I don't do anything with what they teach me...and if I ever do, I'll have to be trained again anyway. I would say I probably won't use any of it in the next 2 months though. And that's about how long I plan on working. Now, if they gave me official training on the things I actually DO do (yes, I just said doodoo)...well THAT's a concept, huh?

Here's a little bit of TMI/useless info for ya: my friend's 6 year old nephew (her husband's nephew, to be exact) wears pull-ups. In case you didn't know, they are potty-training pants. He's SIX. and he peed right through them the other night. His pants were SOAKED. and his mom let him continue on with the church program he was in.

Remember when?

Remember this post?

I was upset, naturally. Then I realized how little stress there was in my life, compared to the previous 5 years.

Things changed there, and I wanted to be a part of it again, part-time.

Not anymore. The shit just keeps falling. They're making major changes (bad, in my opinion) and I can say for sure that I want no part of it.

Again, I was upset when it happened. But now, I am SO glad I'm not there, in the middle of it all.

There is ONE full-timer there that was full-time when I left. ONE. Out of 7. Ridiculous. I've only been gone 3 months. 6 people fired, quit or demoted in 3 months.

Yikes.

I'm so excited!

When I lived with my cousin in 2003, I heard her say she wanted to sing the National Anthem at a Madison Mallards baseball game someday.

Back in September, I gave my her a wedding shower gift that I knew she'd never forget. I was able (through work) to get her a letter from one of the PR guys for the Mallards inviting her to sing at one of their 2007 games.

I'm excited to say she didn't fail me...she finally set the date, and will be singing the National Anthem at the June 10 Mallards game!!!

Anyone in the area interested in going to a Mallards game this summer...June 10 would be a great time to go!!!

Do you watch Greys Anatomy?

DC usually posts a recap of the previous night's episode, but she wasn't up for it today. So I'll do my "best"...which won't even compare, but I'm gonna try. Just for TC.

WTF? that's the best I can come up with. They previewed this episode as a "2 hour event" and I'm pretty sure they said it would be something "you can't miss". If you did, you weren't really missing anything.

Addison is getting a spinoff, and they shoved it into last nights episode of Grey's. From what I have read, people aren't thrilled, and were upset that it wasn't very much of a Grey's episode. It was Addison at this place in LA that is a co-op. Multiple doctors, doing multiple things. And a young guy at the front desk who likes to go surfing at lunch time.
Taye Diggs and Tim Daly are a couple of the "stars".

She heroically saves a woman giving birth to what she thought was another woman's baby (surrogate) but turns out to be her own. She got implanted, had sex with 3 guys, and the implant didn't take. No one knows who the father is yet. Could be the husband of the woman she was going to be a surrogate for, the ex-husband of that woman, or the man he left her for. (I think I got that straight...)

Then there was the mysterious lady talking to Addison in the elevator...and the kiss in the stairwell.

In between we saw a few shots of Seattle Grace. Meredith's step mom came in with non-stop hiccupping. She had a couple procedures. Thatcher thought she was making it up so Meredith would spend time with him. She had complications, and ended up dying. Meredith's dad slapped her and said "she trusted you!"

cristina's and burke's moms came to help plan the wedding. cristina "asked" callie to be a bridesmaid, as well as izzie and meredith. things looked like they might be going ok between callie and izzie, until izzie and george kissed in the elevator. moments later, the door opened and there was callie, completely blind to what is obviously still going on.

ok, it sucks, i know. i'm not much of a recapper. but last night...well, it wasn't much of a show. i hope next week is back to normal. there are only 2 episodes left of the season. as for addison's spinoff? i doubt it.

"NEWS" of the day...

I sometimes read Fark, and if you haven't you should check it out. It can be VERY funny.

Here's a news story they linked to today:
