Still Funny!

the man is still funny after all these years. dave and i went to see him perform last night, and it was great. dave loves the show, so it was a given that we'd go. we went out for Friday Fish Fry (it's a tradition in WI. nearly every restaurant around has a fish fry. you can get fish just about any way...baked, broiled and fried. a lot of times it's "all you can eat". the whole point of a fish fry is just eating fish. and drinking beer. it's fun!)
anyway, after the fish we walked around downtown madison for a bit, then stopped at Ben & Jerry's. I had Wavy Gravy and Dave had Peanut Butter Cup. Delish! Then it was off to the show. The Overture Center is fairly new, so it was our first time in there. Pretty cool place. and awesome seats. if i would have used the binoculars we borrowed from a friend, Jerry probably would have said "do you NEED to be that close?" or something...because we were fairly close. he had a guy open for him named Mark Schiff, and when he got done, everyone was sort of talking/discussing. Jerry just came out on stage...no one announcing him or anything. like he snuck out there. anyway, he performed for about an hour, and i couldn't stop laughing. he talked about Katrina, the way we try to watch CNN and read the ticker at the bottom. "Why don't they just read us what's on the ticker? If we wanted to read we wouldn't be watching TV!" he called chocolate cookies "Chocolate sons-a-bitches" because they're so good they're bad. he talked about the weather..."why do people ask me if it's going to stay this way? it's not! it's the weather! the first thing they give us when we're born in a blanket because of this!" seriously...it was funny. maybe you had to be there. but i was, and i'm trying to relate it to you. i'm no comedian...just imagine it in Jerry Seinfeld's voice!
we stopped on the way home at the bowling alley my cousin bartends at and had one. it was good to see her. we were roommates for a while...and didn't want to kill each other! i just got a phone call from my mom telling me that my other cousin, the pregnant one from a previous post, is at 7 cm. her mom is in NC with her, so that's the good news. her husband isn't back yet (wont' be til wednesday), and that stinks.
anyway...i must be going. got some shopping to do. we're tailgating before the badger game tonight, then more shopping after the game. no, the house is still not ready for all the people coming over tomorrow. but, i had to blog.
