The three layers. Top being wood, the "white" and yellow being linoleum. And can you see the different colors in the carpet? That's not a camera trick. The white was covered with wood. The not-white apparently was white at one time.

We're not leaving it that way obviously. Tonight, as soon as we got word that Denny would be over next Saturday to start tiling, we ran to the store to get a crow bar and tore up that wood. Yes, we tore out wood flooring. It was not great wood. And it was put down over 2 layers of linoleum. So, our next step is to get layer one of the linoleum off. We had to move the refrigerator into the spare bedroom. It kinda got stuck in the doorway. Here's my vantage point:

Fortunately we were able to remove some wood from the door jam and it's in now. More pictures to come!
