Things Heard Backstage At A Drag Show

I volunteered at a charity drag show tonight. I heard a lot of things backstage, and it was hilarious! They were raising money for St. Jude (i just handled the raffle and silent auction). It was the 4th year for the event, and the first time I've gone. I'll probably go back next year too!

Quite a bit of progress was made this weekend. Denny, Gertie and J came over on Saturday. After 8 hours and a $400 trip to the Depot, we have a new bathtub installed! Denny laid durock in the bathroom. J did a lot of work that I wasn't anticipating, which is why it took so long. He did a very thorough job, and that's worth the money. I also ordered a new faucet online. It was $40 cheaper than in store, and no shipping charge. Hopefully it'll show up soon. We grilled out (it was BEAUTIFUL) and after everyone left, I covered the space between the end of the bathtub and the frame of the wall (the durock was to be put up today, so there was space there. hard to explain, and i don't have pics right now). Dave and I were sitting downstairs, and I heard noise coming from the ceiling. I knew immediately what it was. I had covered one end of the tub, and not the other. Sami was under the new bathtub. The cast iron tub that was not going to come out of our bathroom in one piece. I was FREAKING OUT! Dave was able to see her from the laundry room, and i went up to the bathroom to try to coax her out. I got hold of her, but couldn't pull her up. I held on for a minute, then had to let go. I think I scared her, because she ran to the other end and scurried out. So fast I didn't even see it. Needless to say, we propped the door in the door frame for the rest of the night.

Today, Denny came over and finished the durock. All that's left is to put up the tile (on the floor, part way up the walls, and as the tub surround) and re-connect the toilet and sink. We have all the pieces to our new vanity now too. It really is coming together! Hopefully, by the end of the week, we'll have a new bathroom. And we can start moving things back to their proper places. I have so much crap in my bedroom right now that doesn't belong there...it's insane! Oh, our next purchase will be a kitchen table. We haven't even STARTED looking at those yet! We gave mine away when we moved into the house because the half wall that is no longer didn't allow space for a table.

By the way, if your bathroom is not in working order and you must shower at the health club, take a towel. I forgot mine today. I had to dry off with a wash cloth.
