From Yahoo! News:
WASHINGTON - Gay and lesbian organizations asked Ford Motor Co. on Monday to reinstate advertising for its luxury Jaguar and Land Rover brands in gay publications and to distance itself from an anti-gay group which had boycotted the automaker's vehicles.
Ford officials met with leaders of the Human Rights Campaign, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and other organizations in Washington, D.C., after the automaker said last week its luxury brands would no longer advertise in gay publications.
The move came nearly a week after the Tupelo, Miss.-based American Family Association canceled its boycott of Ford vehicles, which started in May amid criticism that the nation's No. 2 automaker was too gay-friendly.
Ford has said it did not make the decision because of the boycott or pressure from conservative Christian groups. It said Jaguar and Land Rover, part of Ford's Premier Automotive Group, cut back on its marketing across-the-board because of difficult market conditions
I wonder who wrote that statement. Too gay-friendly? Will it ever end? I hope so, but maybe that's just me being naive. I don't know what it's like to be gay and be so hated, so maybe it's not my place to talk about it. But I know plenty of people who are gay, and I consider a lot my friends. Maybe that's why it bothers me so much to read stories like this. It's one of the things I've ALWAYS felt strongly about. In other aspects of my life, I sometimes tend to take on the beliefs of others. I'm easily influenced. Not this one. Many have tried, but have never and will never convince me that because someone is gay, they are bad or wrong. Ever. So don't bother trying.

I really think the decision was purely business related and the AFA simply claimed victory, like they claimed victory over Disney (Disney didn't make any changes).
However after Ford realized how this looked -
"Ford said that it would feature all of its brands in a 2006 ad campaign in LGBT publications. Previously Ford was advertising only its Land Rover and Jaguar brands in the gay press."
"It is my hope that this will remove any ambiguity about Ford's desire to advertise to all important audiences and put this particular issue behind us," said the letter signed by Ford V.P. Joe W. Laymon.
The good news is that while nothing has been shown to "cure" natural states like being left-handed, gay, or black - anti-psychotics are showing promise for those with pathological bias.
